Excluding China, South Korea's 3 Companies Hold 48.3% Share in Global Battery Market... LG Energy Solution Ranks 1st
This year, the combined market share of the three domestic companies in electric vehicle battery usage ranked at 48.3%. LG Energy Solution maintained its top position with a 55.0% (47.5GWh) growth compared to the same period last year, while SK On and Samsung SDI recorded growth rates of 15.9% (18.9GWh) and 32.6% (14.9GWh), ranking 4th and 5th respectively.
China's CATL showed a remarkable growth of 109.3% (46.4GWh), closely chasing LG Energy Solution.
SNE Research announced on the 7th that the total battery usage for global (excluding China) electric vehicles sold from January to July this year reached approximately 168.5GWh, marking a 56.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
The market share of the three domestic companies fell by 5.9 percentage points from the same period last year to 48.3%. Japan's Panasonic recorded battery usage of 26.4GWh this year, growing 39.3% compared to the same period last year. Several Chinese companies, including CATL, have shown explosive triple-digit growth rates in non-Chinese markets, gradually expanding their global market share.

CATL ranked 2nd in the non-Chinese market, driven by strong sales of Tesla Model 3 and Y, Kia Niro BEV, and Volvo MG-4. It is also known that CATL batteries are installed in Hyundai's new Kona electric vehicle model, which is expected to further expand its market share in the non-Chinese market.
