Mokpo City has launched local tourism marketing in Beijing, China, as a preemptive response to the Chinese government's full approval of group tours for its citizens.
According to the city on the 6th, it participated in the '2023 China International Service Trade Fair Europe-Asia Cooperation Development Expo Cultural Tourism Forum,' jointly hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Beijing City on the 5th, conducting customized tourism marketing targeting the large local travel industry.

The city operated a Mokpo City promotional booth at the exhibition hall of the National Convention Center in Beijing, attracting visitors by introducing Mokpo's specialty products such as Gim (seaweed) and the diverse tourism resources of Mokpo.
Additionally, a tourism infrastructure briefing session was held at a hotel banquet hall in Beijing for 200 local travel industry professionals, extensively promoting the charm of Mokpo, Korea’s romantic harbor with clear waters.
In particular, the city emphasized a generous incentive system that supports travel agencies attracting overseas tourists with up to 60,000 KRW per person, which garnered high interest from local travel companies.
The city plans to actively pursue attracting overseas tourists, including those from China, through close cooperation with Jeollanam-do Province and the Korea Tourism Organization.

A city official stated, “With the recent resumption of group tours from China to Korea, attending the large-scale cultural tourism forum provided an opportunity to promote the Mokpo brand of the Republic of Korea,” adding, “We will continue to do our best in customized overseas tourism marketing so that many foreign tourists visit our city.”
