Geumcheon-gu, Joy of Harvest... Let's Go Experience Rice Cutting
On September 15 at 10 AM, various experiences such as rice harvesting, threshing, and rice cake pounding are available at Anyangcheon Ecological Rice Paddy
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that on the 15th at 10 a.m., a "Rice Harvesting" experience event will be held at the Anyangcheon Ecological Rice Paddy for children and the elderly.
The district prepared this event to provide residents with the joy of harvest and an opportunity to appreciate the value of rice in celebration of autumn.
In Geumcheon-gu, there are ecological rice paddies of 300㎡ and 200㎡ located next to the Anyangcheon Ha-an Bridge (right bank, 340-2 Gasan-dong) and the Urban Agriculture Experience Center (left bank, 719-5 Doksan-dong), respectively. Every May, children from daycare centers and elderly residents are invited to participate in rice planting experiences.
The rice harvesting experience event will take place at the ecological rice paddy next to the Anyangcheon Ha-an Bridge. Children and the elderly can watch traditional pungmulnori performances and learn about the process rice goes through before reaching the dining table. They will harvest the golden ripe rice using sickles and experience threshing with a traditional farming tool called a holtae. Additionally, participants can engage in various activities such as straw rope twisting and rice cake pounding using rice straw.
Local children's centers, daycare centers, and kindergartens wishing to participate can apply from September 6 to 12 through the Geumcheon-gu Office website under ‘Integrated Reservation - Other Reservations.’ Up to 15 participants per institution are allowed. For safety reasons, the event is limited to children aged 7 and older (children aged 6 and under may participate if accompanied by a parent).
Elderly participants will be recommended by local community centers and senior welfare facilities (such as welfare centers).
