Daegwangwi Expects Recovery in Metropolitan Bus Demand... Reviewing Congested Routes
The Metropolitan Transport Commission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Daegwangwi) announced on the 4th that it will conduct joint inspections with local governments and transportation companies on major congested routes of metropolitan buses.
This inspection will focus on 34 routes expected to experience congestion during commuting hours, as demand for metropolitan bus usage, which had decreased during vacation and holiday seasons, is expected to recover. The inspection will closely examine the number of full-capacity occurrences per route, non-stop passings, and the number of waiting passengers.
For routes found to be severely congested, priority measures will include concentrated dispatch during commuting hours and adjustment of dispatch intervals considering traffic demand patterns. If necessary, discussions with related agencies will be held to expand supply through additional buses and increased frequency.
