Korea Federation of SMEs Selects 'Proud Small Business Person' for Q3 2023
The Korea Federation of SMEs (Chairman Kim Ki-moon) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced on the 3rd that Park Sung-hoon, CEO of Komatechnology, and Lim Wook-bin, CEO of Biodine, were selected as the 'Proud Small Business Owners' for the third quarter of 2023.
Komatechnology is a company that produces semiconductor materials and components, having established an integrated production line from materials to components by directly manufacturing the raw materials for its main product, silicon parts. Through this, it has reduced the manufacturing cost of silicon parts and expanded its market share, and was also selected as a prospective unicorn this year.
CEO Park Sung-hoon founded the company in 2013 and achieved the localization of large-diameter silicon single crystal materials, which had previously depended on imports. Additionally, through active overseas customer development in Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, and the United States, exports that were around $100,000 in 2019 grew to $5.46 million last year. This year, exports are expected to exceed $20 million.
Biodine is a company that manufactures and sells cancer diagnostic medical devices and diagnostic reagent kits. It developed the core technology of liquid-based cytology equipment called 'Blowing Technology' and registered a patent in 2013, acquiring overseas patents in 22 countries including the United States, Japan, China, Russia, and India.
