‘COMEUP 2023 Preview & Workshop’ to be Held in Busan!

The global startup festival ‘COMEUP’ will hold its pre-event in Busan!
Busan City announced that from August 31 to September 1, the ‘COMEUP 2023 Preview & Workshop in Busan’ will be held at Citadines Connect Hotel Hari Busan for two days.
This event is a pre-event of the largest domestic global startup festival ‘COMEUP 2023,’ which will take place from November 8 to 10 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. Busan City secured this pre-event last year, making it the second consecutive year to host it.
‘COMEUP’ is hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and since last year, it has shifted to a private-led format with the Korea Startup Forum organizing the event. The event operates various business matching programs for startup company representatives and investors.
This year’s slogan for ‘COMEUP’ is ‘We Move The World,’ emphasizing startups as the main players and conveying how startups around the world are moving the world.
The ‘COMEUP 2023 Preview & Workshop in Busan’ will feature various programs including ▲panel talks led by prominent startup CEOs and investors ▲networking ▲instant investor relations (IR) pitching sessions conducted through recreational games, along with judging and feedback.
About 40 startups selected as COMEUP Stars, 20 startups from the Busan area, and over 100 participants from domestic and international investment firms and partner companies will attend the event.
COMEUP Stars refers to promising startups with high innovation and growth potential showcased at ‘COMEUP.’ Each year, the Korea Startup Forum recruits and selects candidate companies for this designation.
This year, a total of 150 startups were selected as COMEUP Stars through selection and recommendation.
Especially on the last day of the event, participants will have the opportunity to visit Busan’s workation hub centers, introducing Busan’s excellent startup infrastructure and workation policies to startup stakeholders and investors from the metropolitan area, and providing a workation experience.
‘Workation’ is a compound word of Work and Vacation, referring to a new work system that allows people to work and take a vacation simultaneously at a desired location other than home or office.

Son Seong-eun, Busan City’s Financial Startup Policy Officer, said, “We expect that through this ‘startup exchange platform’ event, which involves startup stakeholders and investors from the metropolitan area and nationwide, Busan startups will strengthen their investment attraction base.” He added, “We will continue to make our best efforts so that promising Busan startups can grow and leap forward as ‘unicorn companies.’”
