"40-Year-Old Arrested for Pushing Citizen at Subway Station Saying 'Going to Prison'"
A woman in her 40s who pushed a citizen and caused them to fall on the escalator at Deungchon Station on Seoul Subway Line 9 has been arrested.
According to the police on the 30th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul obtained an arrest warrant for a woman in her 40s, identified as A, on charges of injury the previous day.
A is accused of pushing a woman in her 60s, B, on the escalator at Deungchon Station on Seoul Subway Line 9 at around 4:20 p.m. on the 27th. B sustained an injury to the back of her head, received emergency treatment at a hospital, and was discharged the same day.
Police, who responded to a report from a witness, arrested A at the scene and applied for an arrest warrant on the 28th.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that she "has nowhere to go" and expressed a desire to "go to prison if necessary." The police have found that A had been living in a homeless shelter for the past three years but had recently left the shelter temporarily due to a COVID-19 diagnosis.
