Gwangjin-gu Opens 'Banban School' for Coexistence of Pets and Owners
Veterinarian and Companion Dog Behavior Expert Share Considerations Before Raising a Companion Dog, Lifecycle Management, and Training Methods
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is opening the second half of the Banban School for pets and pet owners, and will recruit participants from September 4 to 15.
As the number of pet owners rapidly increases, fostering a responsible and proper pet-raising culture has become even more important.
Accordingly, the district is operating the ‘Banban School,’ a pet-raising education program, targeting residents who plan to adopt or are currently raising pets, in collaboration with Konkuk University Campustown Project Group and 3R Animal Welfare Research Institute.
The Banban School will be held at Konkuk University Veterinary Medicine Building from October 14 to November 11, every Saturday for 2 hours (1:30 PM to 3:30 PM), totaling 5 sessions. The lectures consist of 10 topics designed to help create a happy daily life with dogs, including ▲considerations before raising a dog ▲finding the right breed for your family and preparing for adoption ▲management methods for each stage of a dog’s life cycle ▲dog training methods, and more.
Experts from various fields such as veterinarians, animal welfare specialists, dog behavior experts, pet aromatherapists, and animal-assisted psychological counselors will participate as instructors to provide the best lectures.
Furthermore, after completing the education, guardians who pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion. Outstanding students will be selected to receive a special 1:1 mentoring program both online and offline, including personal counseling, behavior analysis, socialization, and walking training.
The recruitment period is from September 4 to 15. To apply, access the Banban School course registration QR code and submit the application form. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, so residents wishing to attend should apply promptly. The first half’s recruitment was closed on the first day of application.
