Busan Office of Education Selects 4 Outstanding Public Officials for Proactive Administration in the First Half of the Year
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education selected four outstanding public officials for proactive administration in the first half of 2023.
The Busan Office of Education received a total of 11 excellent cases from departments (institutions) and selected four outstanding public officials?one grand prize winner and three encouragement awardees?through a first preliminary review and a second proactive administration committee evaluation.
The grand prize winner is Park Chi-wook, a supervisor in the Character Education, Physical Education, and School Meal Division of the Busan Office of Education, for the project "Morning Change (體仁智) Awakening Schools through Physical Activities." "Morning Change (體仁智)" advanced to the finals of the Ministry of Education’s Proactive Administration Excellent Case Competition, securing at least an encouragement award.
This selection of outstanding public officials reflects the policy direction of the Busan Office of Education, which has been promoting proactive administration centered on students.
Aside from the grand prize, the main excellent cases include two officials for "Establishing a Safety Net for Students’ Commute to and from School" and one official for "Supporting Out-of-School Youth," totaling three.
"Establishing a Safety Net for Students’ Commute to and from School" highlights the Busan Office of Education’s determination to protect student safety by providing school grounds free of charge and the active cooperation of schools. Collaboration relays with local governments and regional companies are also representative cases.
"Supporting Out-of-School Youth," which provides a ladder of hope to at-risk youth so that not a single child is excluded from public education, is also a proactive administration case that breaks down barriers.
The Busan Office of Education was the first nationwide to designate the Busan Juvenile Detention Center as an alternative education entrusted institution, helping protected juveniles restore their academic status and providing textbooks to out-of-school youth preparing for the qualification exam.
Superintendent Ha Yun-su has also encouraged staff efforts in proactive administration during the first anniversary meeting of his inauguration in July and is promoting proactive administration. Support for proactive public officials has been strengthened to reduce the burden on employees regarding challenges and failures.
