Anyang City Expands 'Learning Materials Support' for Children at Dream Start Center
Anyang City in Gyeonggi Province will implement a learning material support project for children aged 6 to 12 using the Dream Start Center, covering a total of 2 subjects from September to December.
The Dream Start Center has been promoting the 'Academy and Learning Material Support Project' since 2011 to provide supplementary learning opportunities for vulnerable children lacking basic academic skills and to reduce the educational expenses burden on caregivers.
Currently, the project is being carried out through agreements with about 30 academies and learning material companies in the area. When receiving support from one academy, the city provides 50,000 KRW per month, and the academy supports costs of 10,000 KRW or more.
For learning materials, the city supports 20,000 KRW per month per subject, and the learning material company supports 6,000 KRW in costs.
Starting from September, Anyang City will support learning materials for up to 2 subjects.
Children using the Dream Start Center who wish to participate can apply by visiting the center (106 Samdeok-ro, Manan-gu, 031-8045-3395) or by phone.
Mayor Choi Jae-ho of Anyang said, "We also conduct follow-up management such as checking children's learning progress and achievement through integrated child case managers," and added, "We will continue to implement detailed policies for the healthy growth of children."
