"Annoying Toilet Noise" Chinese Student Injects Poison Through Front Door
PhD Chemistry Student at University of South Florida Injects Neighbor with Mixed Narcotic Painkillers
A Chinese international student pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of South Florida (USF) has been charged with injecting chemical substances into a neighbor's front door using a syringe. The man stated that he committed the crime because he was annoyed by the sound of a toilet from the upstairs apartment.
On the 26th (local time), U.S. NBC News and the New York Post reported that Chinese international student Suoming Li (36) was arrested for repeatedly injecting liquid into a neighbor's door at a condominium in Tampa, Florida.

Li mixed methadone and hydrocodone, narcotic painkillers, in the university laboratory and then injected the mixture into the neighbor's door using a syringe. Prolonged exposure to these substances can cause abdominal pain, vomiting, difficulty breathing, skin irritation, chest pain, diarrhea, and in severe cases, hallucinations or fainting.
The victim, Umar Abdulla, noticed a strange smell in his home and his family experienced nausea and headaches. He cleaned the air conditioner and repaired the ventilation fan but could not find the cause. Even after seeking help from the fire department, the problem remained unresolved.
When Abdulla's 10-month-old baby began vomiting, he installed a camera in front of the front door and captured Li crouching under the door. To capture the exact crime scene, Abdulla reinstalled the camera on a flowerpot in front of the door. Upon further observation, he confirmed that Li was injecting liquid under the front door.
Previously, Li had complained to Abdulla about "a clicking sound coming from the toilet."
Abdulla immediately reported Li to the police. During the on-site investigation, one police officer exposed to the chemical substance experienced skin irritation and received medical treatment.
