Yangcheon-gu Installs Over 200 LED Floor Lights and Smart Security Lights
Expansion of Safety Infrastructure in 7 Areas Including Residential Backstreets and Dark Alleys Around 176 Sinwol-dong
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it has expanded safety infrastructure by installing about 200 smart security lights and LED floor lights linked in real-time with the control center in the Sinwol 3-dong 176 area, which has many dark alleys and residential side streets.
To this end, the district selected seven locations, including roads frequently used by children, entrances and exits of alleys lacking security lights, and alleys near residential areas, through on-site surveys and opinion collection processes involving residents in June. Over two months, they installed 150 solar-powered LED floor lights and 46 smart security lights.
In particular, the district focused on installing floor lights in dark alleys where security lights are installed but the illuminance is relatively low, aiming to secure visibility at night. The solar-powered LED structure, which automatically charges during the day to emit light, is expected to maintain stable surrounding brightness and contribute to creating a safe nighttime walking environment.
Additionally, the existing 46 security lights installed in the selected sections were replaced with smart security lights equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. When residents who have installed the Seoul Safe App approach, the smart security lights automatically brighten, and in emergencies, shaking a mobile phone causes the lights to flash, alerting the surroundings to the danger.
At the same time, the activated ‘Emergency Report’ function immediately connects to the Yangcheon-gu Integrated Control Center and the on-site police officer, leading to prompt dispatch to the scene.
