Suncheon-si to Host Green Square Jazz Festa

Jazz Music Festival Alongside the Youth Challenge Support Project

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that the ‘2023 Green Square Jazz Festa’ hosted by the Youth Culture Planning Group Cheongchun Yeonga will be held on the 27th from 5 PM to 9 PM at Ocheon Green Square.

At this performance, you can enjoy the stage of Maria Kim, who won the Jazz Artist Award at the 29th Korea Entertainment Arts Awards in 2023 and has established herself as a representative jazz musician of Korea, performing with a quartet. There will also be a variety of jazz stages including the jazz funk band JSFA, composed of top domestic jazz players, and the Park Ki-hoon Quintet, which conveys comfort and joy by interpreting everyday stories through jazz.

Any citizen who wishes to attend can bring their own mat and watch the performance for free.

Meanwhile, ‘Cheongchun Yeonga’ is a youth group consisting of five young people from Suncheon City. This year, they were selected for the Youth Challenge Support Project promoted by Suncheon City and are carrying out various activities linking jazz and the Garden Expo as a promotional team for the Suncheonman International Garden Expo.

A Suncheon City official said, “The Youth Challenge Support Project is a program that gives capable youth communities who love the region the opportunity to realize their dreams. Currently, four teams are active in various fields such as classical performances, Suncheon youth forums, and pet promotion teams.” He added, “The Cheongchun Yeonga team has been working hard to cultivate jazz culture in Suncheon, which is a jazz desert, and planned this jazz festa. We hope many citizens and tourists will enjoy it.”
