Governor Kim attended the 'Nongdam (農談) Talk Concert' hosted by the Gyeonggi Province Farmers' Association at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office on the 24th, stating, "Dasan (Jeong Yak-yong) said that farmers should have agriculture where they are more comfortable than merchants or scholars, earn more money, and are respected. I have been thinking a lot about how to carry out provincial administration regarding Gyeonggi's agricultural and fishery policies," adding, "During the 8th elected term, I hope to prioritize and implement things that can be done decisively in a multidimensional way."
He then shared his experience of traveling across rural areas nationwide and meeting farmers before taking office, emphasizing, "Through my experience and your stories, I have learned a lot and will do my best to develop agriculture together as one team with you, to improve rural living conditions, and to make Gyeonggi a province where farmers are respected."
About 350 people, including representatives of the Gyeonggi Farmers' Association, farmers, and related organizations, attended the event to propose ideas and engage in communication about Gyeonggi agriculture.
The first part, the Hand-in-Hand Talk, was led by Min Seung-gyu, Director of the Gyeonggi Agricultural, Fishery, and Life Sciences Promotion Division, where Governor Kim listened to farmers' proposals and responded accordingly.
Rice farmers and beekeepers who could not attend the meeting conveyed their suggestions through videos, continuing diverse discussions on various agricultural fields.
Farmers proposed ▲solving rural labor issues ▲supporting infrastructure to attract population to rural areas at risk of extinction ▲rural RE100 ▲expanding opportunity income in rural villages ▲expanding agricultural disaster insurance, among others.
Governor Kim expressed empathy for each participant's remarks and responded, "We will actively review the suggestions you have made."
After the Hand-in-Hand Talk, the Gyeonggi Farmers' Association delegation presented Governor Kim with a placard titled '10 Proposals of the Gyeonggi Farmers' Association.'
The 10 proposals included ▲nurturing young farmers and future agricultural actors ▲expanding eco-friendly organic farming to practice carbon neutrality ▲stabilizing the price of Gyeonggi rice to increase farmers' income.
