KT Launches Premium Oxygen Service in Neonatal Units with 'Genie Air'
KT Jeonnam-Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters announced on the 24th that the introduction of the eco-friendly premium service 'Genie Air,' which manages indoor air to maintain the oxygen concentration in postpartum care center newborn rooms at an optimal level, has increased.
Genie Air is a service that supplies and safely maintains indoor oxygen concentration at 21.6%, the level found in coastal forests, providing a comfortable environment.
It can be conveniently controlled by voice commands through KT Giga Genie, such as "Genie, turn on bedroom oxygen," or "Genie, activate study room oxygen concentration mode," and oxygen levels can be monitored and managed via an app and web interface.
An oxygen concentration of 20.8% corresponds to the oxygen level in urban air, while 20.5% or below indicates indoor air requiring ventilation, which can cause headaches and nausea. Therefore, a 1% difference in oxygen concentration is significant in terms of air quality.
Oxygen is essential for newborns, whose respiratory functions are unstable after birth, for energy production and metabolism within cells.
Since stable oxygen supply is crucial for the development of important organs including the brain, maintaining an appropriate oxygen concentration in the newborn room can be an important factor when mothers choose a postpartum care center.
The existing ventilation systems in postpartum care centers exchange indoor polluted air with outdoor air, filtering fine dust through filters when outdoor air enters indoors.
Because oxygen concentration cannot exceed outdoor levels through ventilation alone, artificial oxygen supply may be necessary in urban areas. Genie Air enables an environment where appropriate oxygen supply and real-time intuitive monitoring of current oxygen levels are possible.
Kim Eun-ju, director of Gwangju Motherhill Postpartum Care Center, which introduced Genie Air, said, "After introducing Genie Air, the newborns crying noticeably decreased, which surprised me," and added, "I also feel less tired when I get home after work," expressing satisfaction.
