Hyundai Motor Group Sweeps 7 IDEA Design Awards... N Vision 74 Wins Gold
Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 24th that it received a total of seven awards, including one Gold Award, at the '2023 IDEA Design Awards (International Design Excellence Awards)' hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
Established in 1980, the IDEA Design Awards are considered one of the world's top three design awards alongside Germany's iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. Each year, the awards comprehensively evaluate various criteria such as design innovation, user benefits, and social responsibility to select the best designs in each category.
At this year's IDEA Design Awards, Hyundai Motor Group won the Gold Award, the highest honor in the Automotive & Transportation category, for the Hyundai N Vision 74. With this, the N Vision 74 has swept all three of the world's top design awards this year. The N Vision 74 is a high-performance hydrogen hybrid rolling lab (a moving research lab) under Hyundai's N brand. It is a model designed to carry on the spirit of the 'Pony Coupe Concept,' Korea's first sports car introduced by Hyundai in 1974.

Hyundai's Ioniq 6, Grandeur, and Kona also received main awards, recognizing the value of their product designs. The Ioniq 6 attracted attention for its fresh and unique exterior and quiet, stable interior design. Notably, it achieved Hyundai's best-ever aerodynamic coefficient (Cd) of 0.21 with a streamlined silhouette that reflects the characteristics of an electrified vehicle.
The Grandeur is Hyundai's flagship large sedan. It expresses the transition to future mobility by incorporating high-tech details into an innovative design based on heritage. The Kona continues the existing design while implementing a strong and futuristic look. In particular, the seamless horizontal LED lamps ('Seamless Horizon Lamps') and the smooth yet voluminous upper front section harmonize well, giving it a futuristic vehicle feel.
Additionally, two mobility models equipped with Hyundai Motor Group's core robotics technologies, PnD (Plug and Drive) Mobility and PnD L7, received main awards. First unveiled at last year's CES, the PnD Mobility and PnD L7 embody Hyundai Motor Group's 'Metamobility' vision to expand the realm of mobility experiences. The PnD module is characterized by integrating the in-wheel motor, steering, suspension, brake system, and environmental sensing sensors into a single structure.
The Genesis brand's first convertible concept, the 'Genesis X Convertible,' won a main award for its high-quality design. This vehicle emphasizes a driving experience that interacts with the natural environment by utilizing the convertible's retractable roof feature in its design.
