Eunpyeong-gu Holds ‘Final Report Meeting on the Research Project for Establishing the Basic Plan for Social Economy’
Establishes Basic Plan Framework for 5 Years (2024?2028) to Revitalize Social Economy
Seoul’s Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it held the final report meeting for the research project on establishing the basic plan for social economy on the 21st.
The final report meeting was held to present the vision, goals, and implementation strategies of Eunpyeong-gu’s 5-year (2024?2028) basic plan for social economy. Experts from related organizations attended to conduct multifaceted reviews and discussions for the final check.
To systematically support and foster social economy policies, Eunpyeong-gu initiated the research project in April. Interviews, surveys, and expert advisory meetings were conducted to understand the current status, achievements, and policy demands of social economy enterprises.
The final report material set the vision as “Eunpyeong, a Social Economy City Growing Together with Residents” and the goal as “Establishing the Eunpyeong-type Social Economy Model,” deriving four key tasks?startup, growth, cooperation, and future system establishment?and 16 detailed tasks.
Based on the results of this research project, from 2024 to 2028, the district plans to solve local issues through social economy, realize social values, and create a city where residents’ quality of life and happiness increase.
So far, Eunpyeong-gu has promoted various projects to revitalize social economy, including expanding public procurement, providing loans through the Social Economy Enterprise Activation Fund, customized market support for each enterprise (live commerce, funding, product evaluation meetings, and experience groups), and strengthening governance through social economy intermediary support organizations and related groups.
As a result, it achieved 2nd place nationwide last year in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s social economy activation evaluation, earning the honor of being the “first in the nation to win for five consecutive years.” It also achieved the distinction of being selected as an “Excellent Local Government for Social Enterprise Development” by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
In particular, this year, new projects to discover and nurture young social entrepreneurs are being promoted, and a social economy expo is scheduled to be held in October.
