But reveals "Cannot attend political schedule" after daughter hospitalized
New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins announced on the 23rd (local time) that he will be unable to attend to political schedules for a few days to care for his 4-year-old daughter who has been hospitalized.
According to local media, on the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Hipkins stated on his Facebook, "From now on, I will be unable to attend to some political schedules for about two days due to caring for my daughter who is hospitalized."
Hipkins said, "Normally, I do not speak publicly because I want my children to grow up away from the public eye," but added, "However, sometimes it is unavoidable." He explained, "Both of my children suffer from Von Willebrand disease, a blood disorder," and "This sometimes causes nosebleeds and other health issues that require hospital assistance." He continued, "Today, my 4-year-old daughter was admitted to the hospital for treatment," and "Therefore, from this time onward, I will focus on caring for my child while working from the hospital."
He also expressed special gratitude to blood donors, saying, "Many New Zealanders live relying on the noble hearts of blood donors. I want to thank everyone who helps people like our daughter."
