Pukyong National University Opens 'Pukyong Sports Club Social Cooperative'
On the 21st, Pukyong National University opened and began operating the "Pukyong Sports Club Social Cooperative."
The Pukyong Sports Club Social Cooperative was designated as a public sports club by the Korea Sports Council in 2021 and opened on this day after going through preparation processes such as facilities and instructors.
The Sports Club Social Cooperative is a non-profit organization that carries out various projects to promote the health of participating members and activate sports activities.
The Pukyong Sports Club Social Cooperative is a collaboration between Pukyong National University, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Sports Council, and the Busan Sports Council to provide high-quality programs at affordable prices to Pukyong University members and residents of Nam-gu, Busan.
The cooperative utilizes sports facilities such as the gym, tennis courts, and wellness center located on Pukyong National University's Yongdang Campus to operate programs in sports including health training, tennis, badminton, basketball, and table tennis.
Currently, the health club has been recruiting members and operating since July, and the basketball club is conducting classes for youth through an agreement with "Motion Sports," the largest basketball school in Busan. Badminton and tennis clubs are in the process of selecting instructors to run the clubs. A comfortable resting area has also been separately prepared for cooperative members.
Kim Young-hoon, chairman of the Pukyong Sports Club Social Cooperative, said, "Starting with this opening ceremony, we expect to create an environment for community sports activities for Nam-gu residents and Pukyong University members, expand opportunities for elite sports activities and education, and contribute to the activation of employment and entrepreneurship related to sports instructors as well as the development of sports infrastructure."
