The opening ceremony for the May event was held in Daejeon, and the September event’s opening ceremony will take place in Dongseong-ro, Daegu. The location for the December opening ceremony is yet to be decided. This September’s Together Festival will run for 29 days from August 30 to September 27, with nationwide participation from small merchants, traditional markets, and others, featuring extensive promotions and discount sales events.
The opening ceremony of the Together Festival on September 4 will be held in Dongseong-ro, a symbolic location meaningful for revitalizing alleyway commercial districts and small business owners, aiming to spread a consumption boom nationwide, which holds great significance.
Dongseong-ro in Daegu has served as the regional shopping hub and representative commercial district since the 1960s but has recently experienced commercial decline. Daegu City is planning the ‘Dongseong-ro Renaissance Project’ to revive Dongseong-ro, and the opening ceremony and special event of this September’s Together Festival are expected to serve as a stepping stone for this revival.
The Dongseong-ro opening ceremony and special event, jointly hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Daegu City, will be held on September 4 around the outdoor stage in Dongseong-ro and will feature coexistence booths, Together Street, Daegu Special Zone, and Experience Zone. The main event at 7:30 PM will include support performances for small business owners, a Together Festival energy-boosting performance, and a fashion show for Daegu’s small business owners.
In Daegu, where the Together Festival opening ceremony is held, a large-scale consumption promotion event aimed at supporting small and micro businesses and traditional markets is planned. Online, platforms such as Dachaemall, a regional SME product sales platform; Shimeric, Daegu City’s certified brand hall; Muhansangsa, a comprehensive distribution channel for social economy enterprises; and Yakryeongmall, a specialized mall for herbal medicine products from Yakryeong Market, are preparing events including discount coupon distribution, price discounts, and gift giveaways.
Additionally, through ‘Daeguro,’ Daegu’s citizen life comprehensive platform, 1,000 KRW discount coupons usable for taxis and delivery will be provided to participants of the Chimaek Festival, and a 3,000 KRW discount coupon event will be held for customers who purchase over 10,000 KRW at participating traditional markets.
Offline, various events such as price discounts, gift giveaways, singing contests, and prize draws will be held at local traditional markets including the Daegu Enterprise Premium Hall, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Craft Cooperative Exhibition and Sales Hall, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Win-Win Market, and Gunwi Traditional Market. At Seomun Night Market and Chilseong Night Market, visitor participation events will provide night market voucher coupons and planned performances to offer diverse enjoyment to customers visiting traditional markets.
Furthermore, the Together Festival will be linked with regional festivals and events held in September, such as the Daegu Chimaek Festival (August 30 to September 3), Daegu Excellent Market Product Exhibition (September 8 to 10), Daegu Wedding Festival (September 15 to 16), and traditional market shopping events for the Chuseok holiday (last week of September), to promote the spread of the Together Festival boom and consumption promotion.
