Yangcheon-gu to Operate Saturday Flea Markets in September and October... Recruiting 100 Participant Teams
Held on the First Saturday of September and October at Yangcheon Park, Pre-registration for 100 Teams for September Market from August 21 to 23
Priority Allocation of 50 Spots for Teams with Children, Free Used Goods Sharing and Recycling Craft Experience Booths Available
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that to promote resource circulation and spread recycling culture, the ‘Second Half Year Haewoori Sharing Market’ will be held at Yangcheon Park on the first Saturday of September and October.
The second half market is scheduled for September 2 and October 7, and to ensure smooth operation of the September market, 100 participant teams will be pre-registered from August 21 to 23.
In particular, the district has expanded the priority allocation of spots for teams participating with children from 20 to 50 teams starting this second half, aiming to establish the Haewoori Sharing Market as a venue for economic and environmental education.
Additionally, a newly established ‘Recycling Craft Experience Booth’ will offer diverse activities using waste resources, including ▲sock yarn doorbells ▲necklaces made from sea glass ▲pouches featuring endangered animals.
The ‘Free Used Goods Sharing Booth,’ introduced for the first time this year, will continue to operate due to residents’ positive response. A promotional campaign to strengthen waste separation and reduce single-use items will also be conducted. As an eco-friendly market without disposable products, the district plans to actively encourage sellers and visitors to use paper shopping bags and reusable shopping bags.
The market will handle items such as ▲daily necessities (children’s products, stationery, etc.) ▲clothing (clothes, shoes, etc.) ▲cultural goods (books, DVDs, etc.) ▲kitchenware, while food sales are prohibited.
Those wishing to sell items at the September market can apply from August 21 to 23 by visiting the district office or contacting the person in charge via email. Final selection results for sellers will be individually notified on August 28, and on the event day (September 2), sellers should prepare their items, mats, price tags, etc.
The ‘Haewoori Sharing Market’ is an eco-friendly market where used goods are traded at affordable prices, contributing to resource saving and environmental protection. Since 2018, it has been held 15 times with participation from over 1,800 households, operating a voluntary donation box that donates 10% of sales proceeds to the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation, leading efforts to practice neighborly love.
