The urban forest project aims to create various forms of living forests in idle spaces throughout the city to promote public health, emotional well-being, and experiential activities.
The county newly renovated the entrance stairs by stacking landscaping stones around the Imsil Gunmin Hall.
Previously filled only with Korean pine and azaleas, this area was newly planted with a balanced mix of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants such as pine, silverberry, Japanese aucuba, western flowering quince, azalea, and lilyturf, giving the Gunmin Hall a colorful appearance throughout all four seasons.
In particular, herbaceous plants like daffodils, lilyturf, heuchera, and columbine were planted on the stairs to cover the ground, creating a feeling as if visitors are in a small garden close to the space.
Through this, the county expects the space to become a healing place where many local residents can soothe their tired bodies and minds in daily life.
Additionally, at the old Osu Station, a forest harmonized with the surrounding landscape was distinctively created, and photo zones, swing benches, and rest facilities were installed throughout the area to serve as a resting and healing space for local residents.
Besides this, centered around Imsil-eup town, school forests and small flower gardens have been created, and seasonal flowers planted to provide residents and visitors with a pleasant and beautiful landscape.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We will continuously create green infrastructure throughout Imsil-gun,” adding, “We will make Imsil a pleasant and livable place and take the lead in reducing fine dust and achieving carbon neutrality.”
