Boseong-gun Selected for Ministry of Agriculture's 'High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation Project' Competition

Confirmed 14.9 Billion KRW Including 5.9 Billion KRW National Funding for Rice Processing Facility Modernization

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it has been selected for the "2024 High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation" public project hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and will promote the modernization project of the Boseong Integrated RPC processing facility and rice drying and storage facility.

With this selection, Boseong-gun will invest a total project cost of 14.9 billion KRW, including 6 billion KRW in national funds, to establish facilities at the Boseong-gun Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation’s Grain Processing Center (RPC), including a 6-ton brown rice section (2 units), 10-ton packaging section (3 units), 30-ton raw material input section (1 unit), 30-ton dryers (3 units), and 500-ton silos (5 units).

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025, and upon completion, it is expected to greatly enhance Boseong-gun’s grain purchasing, storage, and processing capabilities, as well as significantly contribute to stabilizing farm management.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, "The selection for this high-quality rice distribution activation project is the result of win-win cooperation among the administration, Nonghyup, and farmers," adding, "We will continue to strive to establish Boseong rice, including 'Nokcha Miin Boseong Rice,' as the best brand in Korea."

Lee Moon-gyun, CEO of Boseong-gun Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation (Boseong Integrated RPC), stated, "We will do our best to ensure that this project, scheduled for 2024, proceeds smoothly by securing the project site, reviewing designs, conducting regular audits, and fulfilling related procedures such as building permits."

Meanwhile, the "High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation Project" received applications from 14 cities and counties for 23 facilities (5 processing facility modernizations, 10 rice drying and storage facilities, and 8 dust collection facilities). After the first, second, and third rounds of document evaluation and on-site and presentation evaluations, 16 facilities in 12 cities and counties (3 processing facility modernizations, 6 rice drying and storage facilities, and 7 dust collection facilities) were selected.

Boseong-gun applied for the processing facility modernization and rice drying and storage facility support under the "2024 High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation Project" in February, and after the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ first document review, second on-site, and third presentation evaluations, it was finally selected as a support target.
