Discussion on Future New Industries and New Port Policies on the 16th
Jeonbuk Gimje City (Mayor Jeong Seong-ju) held the 'Gimje City New Port Development Committee' meeting attended by members of the Gimje City New Port Development Committee, composed of port and logistics industry experts, as well as the mayor and related officials, to advance as a central city for marine port logistics in the Pan-Yellow Sea region.
According to the city on the 16th, during the meeting, they deeply discussed port policies and major tasks in the marine port sector to prepare for the Saemangeum New Port's two berths opening in 2026, aiming to create a modern and differentiated specialized port distinct from the nearby Gunsan Port.

Since the launch of the Gimje City New Port Development Committee in 2021, the city has gathered opinions from experts in the port sector.
They proactively completed the 'Feasibility Study on the Specialization Strategy for Saemangeum New Port,' which sought a win-win development plan with neighboring ports, and submitted recommendations to the National Assembly, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and other related agencies. This achievement was discussed at the 29th Saemangeum Committee meeting last March.
This year as well, the city will continue to seek advice from port industry experts. In cooperation with related agencies and local political circles, they aim to strengthen the competitiveness of Saemangeum New Port in line with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' basic port policy direction. They plan to actively establish future industry development strategies linked to the new port.
