US Department of Defense: "Clear Defense Commitment Between Han and Il... Cooperation Against North Korean Threat"
The U.S. Department of Defense stated on the 15th (local time) that "the (U.S.) defense commitment to South Korea and Japan is clear" in response to North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un's successive inspections of military factories and orders for war preparations.
Sabrina Singh, Deputy Spokesperson for the Department of Defense, said during a briefing after being asked about North Korea, "We have taken a very clear stance on the threat from North Korea," adding, "Our defense commitment to South Korea and Japan is very clear. Our commitment to regional security is the same."
Deputy Spokesperson Singh explained, "We will continue coordination with the governments of South Korea and Japan to respond to the threat from North Korea," and "We are not engaging in any hostile acts toward North Korea, and we will continue dialogue and engagement with North Korea."
Earlier, Chairman Kim visited tactical missile production factories and tactical missile launcher production factories consecutively on the 11th and 12th. He emphasized, "We must produce and equip more modern and high-performance launchers that can practically contribute to completing the military's war preparations."

Chairman Kim also inspected military factories such as the large-caliber rocket artillery shell production factory from the 3rd to the 5th. Then, on the 9th, at the expanded meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party, he ordered, "We must actively push forward the mass production struggle of various armed equipment to meet the operational demands of the modernizing military."
