'Ham Shin-ik and Symphony Song' Celebrate Liberation with Special Performance at Independence Park Stage
Audience Filling Independence Park Sings the National Anthem and Liberation Day Songs Alongside Orchestra Accompaniment
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) held the Liberation Day Eve Concert on the evening of the 14th, the third day of the 2023 Seodaemun Independence Festival, at the outdoor special stage in Independence Park, conducted by Ham Shin-ik and the orchestra ‘Symphony SONG’.
‘Symphony SONG’ moved the audience filling Independence Park with beautiful classical melodies.
The audience sang the national anthem and Liberation Day songs along with the orchestra accompaniment, and enjoyed performances including Longing for Geumgangsan, Gyeonggibyeong Overture, Hungarian Dance, Gabriel's Oboe from the movie Mission, Summer from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and William Tell Overture.
‘Symphony SONG,’ loved by audiences for its outstanding performance skills, creative programs, and socially contributive performances, plans to present various classical concerts for Seodaemun residents, using this Seodaemun Independence Festival stage as a stepping stone.

Meanwhile, Artistic Director Ham Shin-ik, a full professor at Yale University School of Music and former permanent conductor of the KBS Symphony Orchestra, founded ‘S.O.N.G’ in 2014, named after the first letters of ‘Symphony Orchestra for the Next Generation.’
Since then, besides regular performances at concert halls, they have been communicating with audiences nationwide without spatial limitations through ‘The Wing Concert,’ performed on a wing-body truck stage.
