Suspected of Illegally Receiving 30 Million Won Salary... Former Progressive Party Leader Referred to Prosecution
Jang Jihwa, former co-representative of the Progressive Party (currently co-regional committee chairman of the Progressive Party in Seongnam Sujeong-gu), who is accused of fraudulently receiving approximately 30 million won in wages without going to work, has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 14th, the Violent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Jang was sent to the prosecution without detention on the 11th on charges of extortion.
Jang is accused of registering as a site team leader at an apartment construction site in Gyeonggi Province from March last year to January this year, but not actually going to work and fraudulently receiving about 30 million won in wages.

The police summoned Jang for questioning once on the 26th of last month. Jang's side claimed, "It is false that he received wages without working. He worked as an organizing team leader, not a site team leader," but the police judged that it falls under extortion charges based on attendance records and other evidence.
