Fishing Boat Runs Aground on Reef Off Gunsan Coast... All 10 Crew Members Rescued
At around 4:38 a.m. on the 12th, a fishing boat ran aground near Sipidongpado, Okdo-myeon, Gunsan-si, Jeonbuk, but all crew members were rescued. The 5.6-ton fishing boat registered in Gunsan was carrying a total of 10 people, including 9 anglers and 1 captain.
They were rescued by the Gunsan Coast Guard and nearby fishing boats that responded to the report. Aside from some minor bruises, there were no serious injuries, and the rescued individuals were transported to the nearby Bieung Port. It is known that the hull was partially damaged after running aground on a reef while passing through shallow waters. The Gunsan Coast Guard installed lift bags to supply buoyancy to the boat in preparation for flooding.
