Taekwang Aramid and LMF Obtain UK Automotive Quality Management System Certification
"Proving Quality Management in the Global Automotive Market
Enhancing Product Competitiveness in the Automotive Textile Materials Sector"
Taekwang Industrial, a textile and petrochemical affiliate of Taekwang Group, announced on the 11th that it has obtained the ‘IATF (International Automotive Task Force) 16949’ certification, an international quality standard automotive quality management system certification, from the British Standards Institution (BSI). ‘IATF 16949’ is the industry's highest certification system created by integrating existing individual automotive quality management system standards by the international automotive task force ‘IATF’ and ‘ISO·TC176’.
Taekwang Industrial succeeded in obtaining the IATF16949 certification for the items ‘LMF (Low Melting Fiber)’ and ‘Aramid,’ which are used as internal automotive fiber materials. Aramid is a super fiber that weighs only 20% of steel but has more than five times the strength and excellent heat resistance. It is used across industries such as defense (protection and bulletproof), firefighting and safety, industrial reinforcement materials (optical cables, rubber hoses and belts, tire cords, etc.), and aerospace.
This certification system requires meeting the strict quality management system requirements announced by IATF in various fields related to automobiles, including design, development, sales, production, and service, as well as manufacturing sites including production facilities, production performance, and delivery history.
A Taekwang Industrial official stated, “Through the IATF 16949 certification, we have proven that we have established a quality management system to supply products to the global automotive market, and we will continue to strive to strengthen product competitiveness in the automotive fiber materials field in the future.”
