Namwon-si Conducts On-site Inspection for Local Subsidy Project Performance Evaluation

Following the recent announcement by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to strengthen the management of local subsidies and reduce inappropriate local subsidies, Namwon City has decided to align with the government’s policy by implementing systematic management through performance evaluations of local subsidies.

The city announced on the 10th that it conducted an on-site inspection of the 2022 local subsidy project performance evaluation over two days, on the 7th and 8th, at the city hall auditorium. The inspection reviewed whether there were any projects with penalties that could be imposed, such as similar or overlapping projects or projects with poor past performance, during the budget allocation for next year’s local subsidy projects.

This initiative was promoted to actively respond to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s policy and to ensure the soundness of Namwon City’s local subsidy support. The performance evaluation was conducted for all subsidy projects in 2022 by commissioning the Local Administration Research Institute, a professional service agency.

The on-site inspection conducted over the two days served as the first interim evaluation, concluding with feedback from the evaluation agency and opinions from project managers. A second and final evaluation is planned to be conducted later this month.

A city official stated, “As the government is strengthening the management of local subsidies, we hope this local subsidy performance evaluation will serve as a foundation for securing the financial soundness of Namwon City’s subsidy projects. Based on this, the city will meticulously manage and supervise from the selection stage of local subsidies to post-management, enhancing responsibility and fairness.”
