Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Cause Trees and Signboards to Fall
12 Households Evacuated from Landslide and Collapse Risk Areas
Typhoon Khanun, the 6th typhoon, has entered the Korean Peninsula, causing damage such as fallen trees due to heavy rain and strong winds across the Jeonbuk region. Fifteen schools in the province have also adjusted their academic schedules.
According to the Jeonju Meteorological Office on the 10th, the typhoon is expected to approach around noon that day. It is forecasted that an additional 100 to 200 mm of rain will fall in the Jeonbuk area by the 11th.
As of 10 a.m., typhoon warnings are in effect for 12 areas (Jinan, Muju, Jangsu, Namwon, Gunsan, Gimje, Wanju, Imsil, Sunchang, Iksan, Jeongeup, Jeonju), and typhoon advisories for 2 areas (Gochang, Buan). A typhoon advisory has been issued for the southern offshore waters of the West Sea.
Currently, Jeonbuk Province is operating Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at level 3.

By 11 a.m. that day, 46 damage reports had been received by the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters, including 33 cases of tree removal, 1 case of signboard removal, and soil removal.
At around 6:15 a.m., a yard of a house in Madong, Munui-myeon was flooded, and drainage was maintained. In Gimje, Jeongeup, and Muju, trees were felled by strong winds and removed.
In the Iksan and Gunsan areas, 12 households with 12 residents at risk of collapse due to landslides evacuated to nearby lodging facilities or relatives' homes.
Fifteen schools in the Jeonbuk region adjusted their academic schedules.
Seven schools, including one middle school and six high schools, closed temporarily, two high schools postponed their opening, and six high schools adjusted their arrival and dismissal times.
To prepare for the typhoon, eight riverside parking lots in the province were closed. These include the Cheonbyeon in Jeonju and Jeongeup, Yocheon in Namwon, Wonpyeong in Gimje, Janggycheon and Yocheon in Jangsu, and Cheonbyeon and Gyeongcheon in Sunchang.
Access to 133 trails in 10 national, provincial, and county parks was blocked, and some sections of roads in Jeongeup, Namwon, and Jangsu are being controlled.
All five passenger ferry routes to island areas have been suspended, and coastal fishing vessels are sheltering at Gunsan Port and nearby harbors.
