Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station to Prevent 'Random Weapon Rampage'
The Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station has decided to conduct joint patrols for two weeks until the 18th in response to growing public safety concerns due to random stabbing incidents in the area.
They plan to deploy neighborhood watch teams during vulnerable nighttime hours around crowded facilities such as Songjeong Station, subway stations, and large supermarkets to carry out patrols.
For the next two weeks, each of the 19 neighborhood watch teams will conduct patrols during vulnerable nighttime hours around crowded facilities such as large supermarkets.
Last weekend, about 30 neighborhood watch members patrolled around Songjeong Park Station and large supermarkets.

A police official stated, "To alleviate local anxiety, we will promptly and intensively deploy police forces to quickly restore peaceful daily life. We will take the lead in making Gwangsan safe through visible patrol activities, including joint patrols with neighborhood watch teams during vulnerable hours."
