Mokpo Coast Guard Rapidly Responds to Various Maritime Situations During Weekend Holidays
1 Flooded Vessel Case, Emergency Measures for 2 Patients in Island Village
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) has made every effort to respond swiftly to flooding accidents and emergency patients in island villages that occurred over the weekend holidays.
According to the Maritime Police on the 7th, at around 7:16 PM on the 6th, a report was received that the engine room of fishing vessel A (9.77t, registered in Mokpo, with 6 crew members) was flooded near Jaeundo Island, Sinan County. Available forces including patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats, and the West Sea Marine Special Rescue Team were dispatched to the scene.
On the 6th, Mokpo Coast Guard is managing the safety of the flooded fishing vessel A near Jaeundo, Sinan-gun.

The Maritime Police arrived at the scene at approximately 7:42 PM, just 26 minutes after receiving the report, confirmed the safety status of the 6 crew members on vessel A and the flooding situation in the engine room, and proceeded with dewatering operations.
After completing the dewatering operation, the Maritime Police confirmed that no additional flooding occurred and conducted safety management to ensure vessel A could safely enter port.
Additionally, at around 11 PM on the 6th, a resident B (female in her 80s) suspected of having a stroke was quickly transported by patrol vessel from Haedo Island, Sinan County, to Bokho Pier on Anjwa Island, Sinan County.
Earlier, at around 10:35 PM, patient C (in her 30s), who fell and hit her face on the ground requiring emergency treatment such as a CT scan, was safely transported from Hajodo Island, Jindo County, to Seomang Port, Jindo, using the coastal rescue boat of the local police station.
