K-pop Concert Postponed to the 11th
On the 5th, it was reported that 987 patients visited the medical facilities at the '2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree.' Among them, 132 were heat-related patients.
Kim Hyun-sook, Minister of Gender Equality and Family and co-chair of the Jamboree Organizing Committee, announced this information during a briefing at the Saemangeum Jamboree Press Center in Jeonbuk on the morning of the 6th.
According to the Jamboree Organizing Committee, the number of visitors on the previous day totaled 987, with 'skin lesions' accounting for 348 cases (35.2%), 'insect bites' 175 cases (17.7%), 'heat injuries' 83 cases (8.4%), and 'sunburn' 49 cases (5.0%).
To support medical care, the committee stated that an additional 55 personnel were deployed the previous day, including 17 doctors, 18 nurses, 1 emergency medical technician, and 19 administrative staff.
Considering safety concerns due to the heatwave, the K-pop concert originally scheduled for the afternoon of that day at the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree was postponed to the closing ceremony on the 11th.
Minister Kim stated, "The K-pop concert event planned for today will be held on the 11th during the closing ceremony, and the venue will be decided later." She added, "We are reviewing the safest location to ensure the K-pop concert can be enjoyed in a safe and comfortable environment."
