The 16th Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival, reaffirming its status as South Korea's representative summer water festival with refreshing pouring water and various programs utilizing it, comes to a grand close on the 6th.
This year's Water Festival was held under the slogan "Soak the whole world with water, fall into Jangheung" along the Tamjin River and the Hinoki Forest Woodland. Jangheung County added historical and cultural colors throughout the festival programs to establish the identity of Jangheung as the city of water.

On the 26th of last month, marking the 70th anniversary of the ceasefire, the "Water Nation Unification (水國統一)" themed Salsu Battle Street Parade, symbolizing unity through water, drew a crowd of over 10,000 people, showcasing an unprecedented scale.
Leading the parade was the unification train concept parade car, followed by dance teams and percussion teams that elevated the atmosphere, beautifully blending Jangheung's culture, arts, and history.
Every day at 2 PM, the largest water fight on land took place in the middle of the festival grounds, where tourists and locals cooled off under the pouring water while enjoying lively music, washing away the summer heat.
The "Catch the Giant Freshwater Eel" event held in the Tamjin River also attracted large crowds and was very popular. Over 100 kg of freshwater eels, catfish, crucian carp, carp, and trout were released daily, allowing participants to experience the thrilling sensation of fishing.
Especially, the nighttime highlight program, the "Water 樂 Pool Party," was a high-quality pool party that all tourists could enjoy without an entrance fee. Featuring famous DJs, it was a refreshing performance that blew away the heatwave and captured the attention of people of all ages.

Various water-based programs such as water bicycles, wooden boats, Disco Pang Pang, and underwater tug-of-war also maintained their popularity.
Meanwhile, the installation of large shade tents and outdoor tables at six locations within the festival grounds, freely accessible to tourists, received favorable reviews.
All program participation fees at the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival ranged from 1,000 to 7,000 won, allowing visitors to enjoy the festival economically, which is a unique advantage of the water festival.
Before the festival began, Jangheung County conducted safety inspections by experts and established various safety measures, resulting in a safe festival with no accidents.
Doctors and nurses were stationed on-site to prepare for emergencies, and safety equipment for water play and emergency rescue personnel were deployed to respond to any unforeseen incidents.
The Water Festival is a benevolent festival that donates most of its profits annually to UNICEF water-scarce countries and social welfare organizations. This year, the profits will be donated to aid recovery efforts in areas affected by heavy rains last month.
