30s Male Urgently Arrested at Home for Posting Threatening Weapon Crime Notice
Amid growing social anxiety due to recent random stabbing incidents, a man in his 30s who posted a threat of a stabbing crime online was arrested by the police.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency urgently apprehended Mr. A, a man in his 30s, at his home in Busan on the 5th on charges of intimidation.
Mr. A is suspected of posting on an online community site at 12:09 PM the previous day, stating, "After lunch, I’m going to Naju with a kitchen knife."
The police searched Mr. A’s residence, considering the possibility that he had prepared weapons other than the kitchen knife, but no other tools for crime were found.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that he "posted the message as a joke."
