Yeongju City Provides Emergency Cooling Cost Support of 50,000 Won... 6,400 Low-Income Households Vulnerable to Heatwaves
Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 4th that it will urgently provide cooling cost support by allocating contingency funds to alleviate the livelihood burden and protect the lives of low-income vulnerable groups due to continuous heatwaves and electricity bill increases.
Yeongju City will support cooling costs of 50,000 KRW for about 6,400 households, including approximately 5,200 basic livelihood security recipients, 1,200 households in the legally designated near-poverty class, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support. To this end, a budget of 320 million KRW has been urgently allocated.
Yeongju City stated, "We judged that government support measures alone are insufficient to resolve the difficulties of vulnerable groups, so we will provide an emergency cooling cost of 50,000 KRW separately from the energy voucher."
The support will be provided as cash per household and will be deposited sequentially into welfare benefit payment accounts, etc., in August without a separate application process.
