Following the Continuing Murder Threat Posts... Police Form Dedicated Response Team
Following a series of posts threatening to commit crimes similar to the stabbing incident that occurred on the 21st of last month in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, the police have decided to respond with full force by forming a dedicated response team.
On the 3rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We will conduct a focused investigation through the Cyber Investigation Unit on nine ongoing murder threat posts currently under investigation, as well as any future threat posts related to Sillim Station, and respond strictly."
The police regard the murder threat posts as intimidation crimes targeting citizens in the Sillim-dong area and have decided to respond with full force. The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to quickly identify suspects by tracing internet addresses (IP) and other data. Additionally, a dedicated response team has been formed within the Violent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Police Agency to respond strongly.
On the 24th of last month, a man in his 20s, Lee Mo, who posted a message on an online community stating, "I will kill 20 Korean women at Sillim Station," was arrested and sent to prosecution the day before. Furthermore, another suspect who posted a message saying, "Tonight, I plan to rape and murder a woman in the Sillim area," was additionally apprehended on the 31st of last month.

A police official said, "Since a murder incident occurred near Sillim Station recently, posts threatening murder have been appearing on online communities, increasing citizens' anxiety," adding, "We will track down and arrest the posters to the end to alleviate the public's concerns."
