Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies Sign Business Agreement to Establish ‘Sustainable Development City Gwanak-gu’
Both Institutions Share Sustainable Development and ESG-related Projects and Establish a Strong Academic-Government Cooperation System
Realizing Gwanak-style ESG Policies, Making a Strong Leap for a Happy Gwanak-gu for All Residents
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) signed a business agreement with the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University (Dean Professor Yoon Soon-jin) on the 28th of last month to establish a ‘Sustainable Development City Gwanak-gu.’
This business agreement was made to share and develop the visions and projects of both institutions, including sustainable development and ESG, by building an academic-government cooperation system within the local community.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will strengthen cooperation in areas related to sustainable development and ESG, including ▲sharing visions and projects ▲operating educational programs ▲joint use of human and physical infrastructure ▲consulting for companies within Gwanak-gu.
The district expects that this agreement will enable the preparation of practical measures necessary to realize the ‘Gwanak-style ESG policy.’
Meanwhile, in December last year, the district established the Seoul Metropolitan City Gwanak-gu Basic Ordinance on Sustainable Development, and in July this year, the Seoul Metropolitan City Gwanak-gu Ordinance to Support the Activation of ESG Management for Small and Medium Enterprises, laying the institutional foundation for a ‘sustainable city.’
Also, to systematically promote sustainable development and ESG, the district established the ‘Gwanak-style ESG Policy Comprehensive Plan’ in February this year and is currently implementing 46 key projects. In March, a proclamation ceremony was held to realize the vision of ‘A City Dreaming of the Future, The ESG Gwanak.’
