Gimhae City "Starting New Dementia Patient Care"
Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province will launch a ‘Pilot Project to Strengthen Customized Case Management Functions for Dementia Patients’ starting in August.
The city announced that it will form and operate a dedicated case management team within the Dementia Safety Center and officially begin new dementia care services.
According to the city, customized case management for dementia patients involves directly providing necessary support services or connecting community resources to address the complex needs and problems based on the patient’s physical, psychological, social, and environmental conditions.

Among 256 Dementia Safety Centers nationwide, 18 centers from 14 cities and districts, including Gimhae City in Gyeongnam, were selected for this pilot project.
The selected areas include ▲Gimhae City in Gyeongnam, ▲Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul, ▲Yeonsu-gu in Incheon, ▲Bucheon and Ansan Cities in Gyeonggi Province, ▲Daedeok and Yuseong-gu in Daejeon, ▲Jincheon-gun in Chungbuk, ▲Cheonan City in Chungnam, ▲Jeonju City in Jeonbuk, ▲Yeosu City in Jeonnam, ▲Seo-gu and Buk-gu in Gwangju, and ▲Uiseong-gun in Gyeongbuk.
The dedicated case management team at the Dementia Safety Center consists of six nurses and social workers.
They visit each household to provide personalized services such as health management, daily living assistance, provision of care supplies, support for families of elderly dementia patients, and linkage to dementia management services.

Heo Mok, director of the Gimhae Dementia Safety Center, said, “We will do our best to minimize care gaps for dementia patients and create a dementia-friendly environment so that they can enjoy a comfortable life in their own homes despite having dementia.”
