Masan Fire Station Awards Heart and Brain Saver Certificates for Saving Patient Lives
On the 2nd, the Masan Fire Station of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a Heart and Brain Saver Award Ceremony to commend the firefighters and civilians who revived patients in danger through emergency treatment.
The 'Heart Saver' award is given to firefighters or ordinary citizens who revived patients at risk of death due to cardiac arrest through cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced cardiac life support.
At the ceremony, 27 firefighters and 2 civilians were selected for the Heart Saver award for 5 cases, and 4 firefighters were selected for the Brain Saver award for 2 cases.
In particular, among the civilians honored, Nam Jae-wook, a Changwon city council member, immediately performed CPR on a citizen who collapsed during the Naeseo Tennis Association monthly meeting in Masanhwoin-gu on February 25. The citizen was then transported to the hospital via the 119 ambulance and regained consciousness after 7 days, eventually being discharged safely.
