Busan City, together with the Busan Merchants Association (President Kwon Taek-jun), will conduct the ‘Traditional Market Seafood Safety Campaign’ at 10 a.m. on the 2nd at Busan Station Plaza.
This campaign is designed to inform tourists visiting Busan during the summer vacation season and Busan citizens about the safety of seafood, encouraging seafood consumption and increasing the use of traditional markets.
The campaign is organized by the Busan Merchants Association and supported by Busan City, the Busan Regional Small and Medium Business Administration, and the Small Enterprise and Market Service.
On the day, the Busan Merchants Association will carry out the campaign at Busan Station Plaza, the gateway for tourist inflow, using banners and placards with the message, “Busan Seafood, Thoroughly Inspected and Closely Monitored. Enjoy with Confidence.” They plan to distribute shopping bags, wet wipes, and bottled water to tourists and citizens.
About 300 officials from 82 member markets of the Busan Merchants Association, the Busan Regional Small and Medium Business Administration, and the Small Enterprise and Market Service will participate.
To increase the use of traditional markets, the Busan Merchants Association will also conduct a promotional campaign for the ‘Rechargeable Card-type Onnuri Gift Certificate,’ which offers various benefits such as a 10% discount, income deduction for traditional market purchases, and credit card performance reflection.
Following this campaign, the Merchants Association plans to visit traditional markets handling seafood to encourage merchants and listen to their firsthand voices from the field.
Additionally, they will continue various promotional activities to publicize safe and clean traditional markets, including producing and broadcasting videos to promote the safety of domestic seafood and stimulate seafood consumption in traditional markets.
Kwon Taek-jun, President of the Busan Merchants Association, said, “During the hot and rainy summer, which can be exhausting, I hope everyone overcomes the heat well by enjoying safe seafood at traditional markets.” He added, “We will continue to do our best so that visitors to Busan remember the city as a safe place with plenty of delicious food.”
