Sim Min, the governor of Imsil County, Jeonbuk, is actively stepping forward as a ‘global promotional ambassador’ to showcase the charm of Imsil County to the world at the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree.
According to the county on the 1st, as the World Jamboree opened that day, Sim Min personally welcomed Macedonian youth who visited Imsil County for the first time the day before, effectively fulfilling his role as a promotional ambassador for South Korea, Jeonbuk, and Imsil.

On that day, 30 Macedonian youths visited Imsil Cheese Village and participated in the ‘hoho Program Rural Cultural Experience’ held before and after the event period.
Governor Sim said, “We warmly welcome the Macedonian scouts who came to Imsil County, the cheese capital of South Korea, to experience Korean rural life,” and introduced directly, “Cheese Village, where people are more beautiful than flowers, is the root of ‘Imsil Cheese,’ first made with two goats by Father Ji Jeong-hwan who came from Belgium in 1967. It is a place where the village community continues to cherish valuable traditions with one heart and one mind.”
The Cheese Village program is an activity where foreign scout members stay in rural experience villages and experience Korean life and culture.
As the origin of Korean cheese and the cheese capital of South Korea, the county introduced the charm of Imsil Cheese to the jamboree youths visiting Cheese Village and offered experiences such as cheese and pizza making.
Since arriving in Imsil County on the 31st of last month for rural experiences, they enjoyed water play at the Aqua Festival, experienced traditional games like Yutnori, and rode farm tractors, having a meaningful time to experience and understand Korean culture within Imsil.
They also had a special exchange event with welcome performances by local children and participated in experiences together with the children.
Follow-up programs for Cheese Village visits are scheduled to be held from the 12th to the 14th, with a total of 22 youths from Benin and the Philippines participating.
Starting with the rural experience program, about 3,000 scouts from around the world are expected to visit Imsil County during the jamboree period.
From the 2nd to the 10th, 2,880 participants of the World Scout Jamboree will visit the Jeonbuk 119 Safety Experience Center to receive education and experience various safety programs, including water safety.
The county will support a total of 146 volunteers, including 18 interpreters and 128 general volunteers, to operate regional linkage programs so that the scouts can participate in activities in Imsil County without inconvenience during this period.
At the Saemangeum event venue, which attracts over 43,000 people worldwide, the Imsil County promotional hall and agricultural specialty product sales center will also be operated from the 2nd to the 11th to widely promote Imsil’s excellent tourism products.
At the promotional hall, various events will be held to aggressively promote hot tourist attractions such as Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park, as well as the national brand ‘ImsilN Cheese’ and the ten million chrysanthemum flowers festival ‘ImsilN Cheese Festival’ to youth from around the world.
Governor Sim Min said, “This Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree is a great opportunity to widely promote Imsil County to foreigners and tourists visiting the jamboree venue,” and added, “We will do our best to promote the county’s representative tourist sites and excellent agricultural specialty products and to operate the promotional hall and sales center thoroughly.”
