Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport cracks down on 273 illegal subcontracting firms over 60 days: "Intensive inspection in August"
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 1st that from August 1 to 30, it will conduct joint crackdowns on illegal subcontracting together with local governments and public institutions. This is an extension of the crackdown on 508 suspected illegal subcontracting sites that began on May 23.
Earlier, the Ministry announced the 'Measures to Eradicate Illegal Activities at Construction Sites' and the 'Follow-up Measures by the Public, Ruling Party, and Government' in February and May respectively, and has been conducting an intensive 100-day crackdown on illegal subcontracting.
The Ministry reported that as a result of inspecting 292 sites over 60 days until the 21st of last month, 183 cases of illegal subcontracting were detected at 108 sites (37%). The detected companies numbered 146, and the Ministry is currently carrying out administrative actions and criminal prosecutions against 273 companies, including 127 unregistered and unqualified construction firms.
After the intensive crackdown ends, the Ministry plans to analyze the signs of illegal subcontracting sites in detail based on the results and enhance the early warning system. A system will also be established to notify licensing authorities or project owners of suspected illegal subcontracting sites regularly, enabling surprise (continuous) inspections.
