Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated, "Cases of terrorist organizations transferring funds and threatening terrorism are continuously being detected domestically," and added, "I hope you establish the capability and readiness to respond swiftly in any situation."
On the 31st, at the 17th National Counterterrorism Committee meeting, Prime Minister Han said, "This is a grave situation where threats of terrorism using new technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as cyberterrorism threats to critical facilities, are more concerning than ever."
Prime Minister Han anticipated, "In the second half of this year, global terrorist threats are expected to increase due to the reorganization of the international security order and changes in the terrorism situation." He stated, "When a recent overseas delivery mail incident occurred, the counterterrorism system was promptly activated, allowing for quick and accurate judgment and dissemination regarding any terrorist suspicions, ensuring thorough preparedness in response."
He specifically mentioned that, along with preventive measures such as blocking the entry of individuals at risk of terrorism into the country, efforts are continuously being made to strengthen the capacity to respond to new types of terrorist threats.
