Seodaemun-gu Opens the 9th Our Neighborhood Care Center in Hongje 3-dong
Provides Regular, Temporary, and Emergency Care Services for Elementary Students Needing After-School Care
First Publicly Operated Elementary Care Facility by the District to Strengthen Publicness and Provide Safe School Arrival Service
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 31st that it recently opened the 9th Our Neighborhood Care Center in Hongje 3-dong to establish a community-centered care system and eliminate blind spots in elementary care.
The center is an institution that provides regular, temporary, and emergency care services near students' residences for elementary students who need after-school care.
Notably, the newly opened 9th center (103 Sewooseo-gil, 2nd floor) is the first Our Neighborhood Care Center in Seodaemun-gu to be directly operated by the district.
This is to actively respond to the increasing demand for care services and to strengthen the publicness of elementary care facilities under the district’s leadership by developing and operating programs linked with local community infrastructure.
The 9th center has a capacity of 28 users and operates on weekdays from after school until 7 p.m. during the semester, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during vacation periods.
In addition to basic care programs such as life safety guidance, hygiene and health management, and provision of meals and snacks, the center supports balanced growth of children through project-based learning (PBL) activities that harmonize play and study.
Children actively participate in literary activities such as reading aloud, creative art that enhances creativity and concentration, yoga for healthy physical development, as well as science, cooking, math, and board games.
Especially for lower-grade students, a ‘Safe and Secure School Arrival Service’ is provided, where care teachers accompany children from the school to the care center.
The usage fee is 50,000 KRW per month or 2,500 KRW per day, and applications can be made through the Our Neighborhood Care Portal.
