Chosun University Selected as Operating Institution for 'Digital Saessak Camp'
Chosun University has been selected as an operating institution for the second half of the Digital Sprout Camp organized by the Ministry of Education and others.
On the 31st, Chosun University announced that it had been selected as an operating institution for the "2023 Second Half Digital Sprout Camp," organized by the Ministry of Education, 17 city and provincial offices of education nationwide, and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KFASC), with Professor Byun Jae-young of the College of IT Convergence in charge.
The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, the main organizer of the 2023 second half Digital Sprout Camp, recently selected and announced a total of 48 operating institutions, including 7 institutions in the Honam and Jeju regions, 9 institutions in the Seoul and Incheon areas, 14 institutions in the Gyeonggi area, 8 institutions in the Gangwon and Chungcheong areas, and 10 institutions in the Gyeongsang area.
This camp was planned to expand digital education in the fields of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and SW (Software) and to reduce the digital divide.
Chosun University will operate the camp in collaboration with partner organizations such as Palchilgusam (CEO Park Deok-hwa) and Wichis (CEO Ko Mia) in the second half of this year.
Earlier, on the 28th, Chosun University conducted a program titled "Chosun 同Go同樂 (Dong-Go-Dong-Rak) Digital Sprout Camp" at Gyesu Elementary School, and will meet with about 1,300 students from elementary, middle, and high schools (including island and remote areas and socially disadvantaged groups) in the Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Jeju regions.
The main educational contents are divided into 15 themes: ▲Computational Thinking - AI Theme Park, AI Smart Factory, Fun Programming Adventures with Scratch, Animal Keyrings that Protect Me, My Own App Created with App Inventor ▲Artificial Intelligence and Data - Let's Play with AI!, Breaking Down AI Data, AI, Our Friend, Creating Immersive Games Using AI, Meeting AI through Programming: From Basics to Practice ▲Convergent Problem Solving - Future Car Driving Completed with AI SW, Smart City Dreaming of a Sustainable World, Practical Web Projects with Chat-GPT, Our Neighborhood Problem Solving Team, Media Art Created with Arduino and C Language.
Chosun University held the 1st and 2nd instructor capacity-building workshops on the 24th and 28th. The workshops were organized to analyze students' digital learning abilities in the long term and to develop and manage programs that allow students to grow most efficiently.

Professor Byun Jae-young, the person in charge, said, “At the Chosun University Digital Sprout Camp, we have prepared level-based programs on various themes such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, game production, and software programming, allowing students to directly experience and participate in project-based activities to nurture ‘collaborative’ digital sprout talents who will lead the future.” He added, “Through this, we will help reduce the digital divide among students in the Honam and Jeju regions and serve as a partner in digital technology education so that they can grow into talents for the future era.”
