Why Was the Husband's Arrest Warrant Denied After Leaving His Collapsed Wife and Going to Exercise?
Incheon District Prosecutors' Office Orders Police to Supplement Investigation
Prosecutors: "Medical Verification Needed Regarding Injuries"
The prosecution rejected the arrest warrant for a man in his 60s who left his wife bleeding and collapsed unattended and went out to play tennis, causing her to fall into a critical condition.
According to the Ganghwa Police Station in Incheon on the 27th, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office rejected the pre-arrest warrant application for Mr. A, in his 60s, who is accused of abandonment and injury, and instructed the police to conduct supplementary investigations. Earlier, the police had applied for a pre-arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 25th.
Mr. A is accused of leaving his wife, Mrs. B, in her 50s, who was bleeding and collapsed at their home in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, on May 9th at 6:12 PM, unattended, causing her to fall into a critical condition. At the time, Mr. A had stopped by the house to change clothes before going to play tennis and discovered his wife collapsed. However, he did not provide any aid, took a photo of his wife, sent it to his stepdaughter living in another region, and then went out.
Mrs. B was transported to the hospital by the 119 emergency medical team who responded to the daughter's report, but she fell into a brain-dead state and is still undergoing treatment. Bloodstains were also found on Mrs. B's face and in the home bathroom.
During the police investigation, Mr. A stated that "because there had been previous reports of domestic violence, he did not want to be involved with his wife in such matters anymore." In fact, Mr. A had been reported three times in the past for domestic violence, but all cases were closed with 'no prosecution' or 'no charges.'

The prosecution reportedly conveyed to the police that additional medical verification is needed regarding Mrs. B's head injury. A police official said, "There are parts that require further verification in the medical field," and added, "We plan to request an appraisal from the Korean Medical Association and others." The police intend to reapply for Mr. A's arrest warrant once the additional investigation is completed.
