Niger Presidential Palace Blocked... Security Guards 'Detain' President
The presidential palace in Niamey, the capital of Niger in West Africa, was reportedly sealed off by presidential security forces on the 26th (local time), according to AFP and other sources.
Foreign media, citing local sources, reported that "Niger's presidential security forces blocked the presidential palace with military vehicles and are holding President Mohamed Bazoum inside."
In addition, government offices nearby the presidential palace were also sealed off, and employees are unable to access their offices.
However, AFP reported that no military equipment has been seen around the Niamey presidential palace, no gunfire has been heard, and vehicle traffic is proceeding normally.
