Gumi-si Launches 5th Child Participation Committee ... Implementing Policies Aligned with Children's Perspectives
Recruitment of 44 Children Aged 9 to 18 Through Open Call
On the 24th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the "5th Children’s Participation Committee Inauguration Ceremony and Workshop" at the Youth Training Center, attended by 44 child participation committee members.
The committee is an organization where children aged 9 to 18 provide opinions and advice throughout the entire process of establishing and implementing child-related policies. It was formed through an open recruitment in June.
The inauguration ceremony included child rights education, division of activity subcommittees, election of officers, appointment ceremony, declaration of commitment to activities, followed by Robotory (robot coding experience) and Didim (virtual reality experience).
Going forward, the committee will engage in various activities such as ▲ child rights campaigns ▲ attending meetings for child-friendly city research projects ▲ providing opinions on the installation of child-related facilities.
Park Kyungha, Director of the Social Welfare Bureau, said, “We hope you actively participate by presenting fresh and practical opinions,” and added, “The city will also do its best to create a happy city for children by promoting policies that meet the children’s perspectives.”

Since forming the 1st Children’s Participation Committee in 2017, the city has supported activities such as child-friendly city promotion meetings, historical and cultural site explorations, summer camps, and lively debate sessions, actively reflecting children’s opinions in policies.
